I am a studio based florist providing flowers for weddings, events and large-scale installations across the UK.

I’m happiest when a project begins with a conversation rather than a formula. I like to understand the place, the people, the atmosphere and what someone is instinctively drawn to, then see where those ingredients might lead.

I love working collaboratively, seasonally and with a thoughtful approach to the materials I use, allowing an idea to develop. The important thing is that the finished flowers feel right for the people, the place and the occasion.

After all these years, I still absolutely love working with flowers, playing with colour, texture, fragrance and form. No two projects need to look alike, and there should always be room for a little surprise.

Between the garden and the architecture

Much of what I do begins with looking. I’m always noticing colour, texture and shape in the landscape, a wild hedgerow, an old wall disappearing beneath roses, the particular colours of a late-summer field. Those details have a habit of quietly finding their way into my work.

My training was in sculpture, so I tend to see more than the flowers themselves: the light, the architecture, the proportions of a room or table, and the way people will move through a space. Sometimes I’m happiest making something loose and wonderfully English, full of garden flowers and a sense of ease. At other times I want to push the scale, play with form or let the flowers become part of the architecture itself.

Over the years I’ve learnt that ambitious floristry is as much about judgement as imagination. Behind something that appears effortless are decisions about structure, weight, timing, access, longevity and installation. That experience gives me the freedom to experiment while knowing how to make an idea work beautifully within its setting.

And I still love that flowers never behave entirely as expected. There is always something to notice, something to learn, and I think that is what keeps me inspired.
